She hands him her stack of pictures. He smiles and leafs through them, as she tries to get him to agree they're of "the most beautiful child in the world."
After she leaves, he looks at pictures of his own kids and silently disagrees with her.
She follows her friend like a hawk. With each aisle she gets more intense with her shoulda's and woulda's, "I'm telling you I wouldn't let anyone do that to ME." Finally fed to the max, her friend turns to her. "What about your boyfriend?"
He leaps up the first set of stairs, bounds up the second and skips every other step of the third. By the fourth he's taking them one-at-a-time and... by the fifth... he looks like... he's not... so... sure... why... he's here.
They sit on the park bench as she opens her package of freshly developed photos. He tries to shuffle through them, but she pauses to fully explain each one.
She wants to make sure she gets a thousand words and her money's worth.
She nods politely, knowing her friend is not going to stop the incessant chatter. "And I have no idea why I even dated him... I mean, all the girls he dates are PSYCHOs!"
Her best friend's email shocks her out of her silence. "She never told me she was leaving... I can't believe this... I'm gonna kill her!" Her cubicle neighbor turns with a reassuring tone, "just read the last line."
